SBN Ian started training in Norwich with KJN John Ives and KJN Richard Roper. He promoted to Sa Bum Nim 4th Degree in November 2005. Ian lives with his wife Kit and his youngest daughter Pu Sa Bum Nim (3rd Degree) Cathleen. He also has a grown up son and Daughter and four grandchildren. Kyle his eldest grandson has just promoted to 1st Degree black belt and his youngest grandson Owen has just started training and is a yellow belt. Sbn Ian is semi-retired after a long career in Industry, first as an Electronics Engineer in the armed forces, where he served abroad and then as a Trouble-Shooter in the I.T environment. Latterly he worked with City & Guilds to design and develop Nation Vocation Qualifications (NVQ`s) and became their Principal & National Verifier.

SBN Ian started the Inverness Shire School nearly ten years ago and very quickly established a reputation for quality and skill through his students at World, European & U.K tournaments which included Junior Blackbelt Grand Champion November 2005
